Oracle has announced today the immediate availability for download and update of a new maintenance release of its VirtualBox 4.3 virtualization software for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. VirtualBox 4.3.26 brings a number of improvements and fixes that have been discovered in the previous release, VirtualBox 4.3.24.

According to the short release notes, VirtualBox 4.3.26 fixes a crash with systems that are powered by Linux kernel 4.0, addresses a panic issue on Mac OS X hosts powered by Broadwell and later processors where SMAP is activated, enables the HTTP download protocol on non-Linux systems, and fixes a Blue Screen of Death on Windows hosts.

The application’s rdesktop-vrdp component now works with USB devices again, the VirtualBox.tlb file has been fixed in the SDK, secondary screen sizes can now be saved in X11 guests, a couple of NAT Network bugs have been squashed, the shutdown of VBoxSVC will no longer be delayed on Windows hosts, mouse support has been improved when not using Guest Additions, a snapshots issue has been fixed, and ejecting virtual CD/DVD mediums is now a permanent process.

Download VirtualBox 4.3.26 for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X right now from Softpedia if you’re installing it on new systems, otherwise make sure that you use the built-in updater function to upgrade your existing VirtualBox installation. Linux users should wait for their distribution vendor to update the packages in the main software repositories.
