Video (formerly Totem) 3.16.1, the official movie player of the GNOME desktop environment based on Gstreamer that features a playlist, a full-screen mode, seek and volume controls, and many other features, has been released and is now available for download.

The first round of updates has been released for GNOME 3.16.1 and Video is a major part of that upgrade. In fact, it looks like it's one of the most consistent releases in the GNOME stack, if we take a look at what has been changed.

According to the changelog, a large number of performance fixes, related to thumbnailing when a video is playing, have been implemented, doubling files are no longer added on the command-line, the tracker source is no longer monitored, the Videos icon is not showing in the volume control, a symbolic variant of the app icon is now provided, frames are now getting applied for new thumbnails, and a warning is no longer provided when the video rotation is unset.

A complete list of modifications can be found in the official changelog. You can download the Video (formerly Totem) 3.16.1 source right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that you will need to compile it if you want to properly test it.
