The developers of Star Conflict, a massively multiplayer space simulation game developed by Star Gem Inc. and published by Gaijin Entertainment, have confirmed that a Linux version is in the works.

There are very few working MMOs on the Linux platform and it seems that one more is about to be released. Besides the impending Linux release for this game, another piece of information has surfaced. It seems that Valve is helping developers to port their games.

“Steam is preparing all the dependencies and stuff (sorry, i'm not much of a linux user for this to be explained better). As soon as we have greenlight from Steam, we will make an announcement! Please, be patient. We want you guys to play SC no less then you want to try it out!” said a developer from the Star Conflict team.

The system requirements are also quite high, but a lot of Linux users might be able to meet them: a .2.0 GHz Intel Pentium-4 / AMD Athlon II processor, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB HDD space, and 512 MB NVidia / AMD Radeon / Intel (HD 3000, HD 4000) video card with support for Pixel Shader 3.0. This is the minimum for the Windows platform, but we can expect similar requirements on Linux.
