A small update has been issued for the operating system from Valve

SteamOS, a Debian-based distribution developed by Valve to be used in its hybrid PC / console, has just received an update for the stable and Beta branches, with a fix for the Heartbleed bug.

Valve has two builds for SteamOS. One is a stable version (sort of) and the other one is a Beta. Usually, developers implement major changes in the development version and, after a while, the changes are ported to the Stable one.

This is a special case, because Valve couldn't wait to fix the Heartbleed bug in the normal upgrade order, which means that both branches got the same update.

According to the changelog, a few instances of stuttering that occurred when notifications appeared on screen with NVIDIA hardware have been fixed, and the security fixes for file, openssh, openssl (heartbleed), and curl have been implemented.

The users of SteamOS were not happy with the tardiness of the update for the Heartbleed bug, and they've been pushing developers to make these changes for weeks. SteamOS is not particularly vulnerable, but now you will be safer after this small update that fixes the security problems.
