VideoLAN Media Player, or simply VLC, a software designed to run all kinds of media files ranging from simple DVDs to video, audio files, and even online streams, is now at version 2.0.8a.

The developers of VLC have released a new version of their media player in order to fix some regressions that had been introduced in the 2.0.x branch.

There are no details about the changes made to the software, but it seems they weren’t important enough to merit a major shift in version.

This being said, a complete list of changes and fixes for the 2.0.8 branch can be found in the official changelog, which is available in the source archive. Also, check out the VLC 2.0.0 review we made a while back.

As a side note, Arch Linux users can already upgrade to the latest version.
