Clonezilla Live, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that lets users perform bare metal backup and recovery with very little effort has been upgraded to version 2.3.1-18 and is now ready for download.

The latest Clonezilla release is a stable one and the developers have made a large number of changes and improvements to it, and that includes a fresh Linux kernel, which was to be expected. In fact, this version is actually the sum of all of the previous dev releases.

"The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/Dec/08)," reads the official announcement. The developers have upgrade the Linux kernel to version 3.16.7-2, drbl is now at version 2.11.13-drbl1, Syslinux has been updated to version 6.03, the Linux kernel i486 was replaced by the i586 version, and fake RAID/firmware RAID is now supported as well.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.3.1-15 right now from Softpedia and you can run it as a Live CD with no problems. There is no GUI, but the instructions from the boot screen should be pretty self-explanatory.
