The development team behind the Unvanquished first-person shooter game was happy to announce a few days ago that the nineteenth Alpha release was available for download and testing.

The big news in Unvanquished Alpha 19 is that the after months of planning and testing, the gameplay development branch was merged into the master branch for the first time ever, offering a brand-new gameplay experience, while also making the first step in moving away from the gameplay of Tremulous.

"So, what's new? Many things, for someone coming from a Tremulous perspective. Build points are earned through a resource system, and will require you to make extraction structures on both teams. Stages are earned through what we call the ‘confidence’ system, which rewards you for spreading through the map and penalizes you for remaining in your base all game," the official release announcement reads.

Unvanquished Alpha 19 also updates the vanilla renderer by using SSE vertex skinning by default, adds new hand textures for humans, adds a Russian translation, and updates the Ukrainian and Galician ones.

Download Unvanquished Alpha 19 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
