TheeMahn proudly announced last evening, July 6, the immediate availability for download of the Ultimate Edition 4.2 Linux operating system, distributed as a Live DVD ISO image only for the 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.

Dubbed Ultimate Edition 4.2 Lite, the brand new release of this Linux-based operating system is now derived from the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) distribution and uses MATE 1.8.0 as its default desktop environment.

The good news is that Ultimate Edition 4.2 is now an LTS (Long Term Support) release and will be supported with security patches and software updates until year 2019.

“What is Ultimate Edition 4.2? Ultimate Edition 4.2 was built from the ground up debootstrapped from the Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr tree using Tmosb (TheeMahn’s Operating System Builder) which is also included in this release.”

“This release is a Long Term Supported (LTS) release, supported until the year 2019. This release is most certainly worthy of the Ultimate Edition title,” TheeMahn said in the official release announcement.

Download Ultimate Edition 4.2 right now from Softpedia. We kindly remind you that this build works only on 64-bit platforms and that a 32-bit version will be available soon at the same download location. A normal, non-Lite version of Ultimate Edition will also be released.
