This only applies if the Ubuntu Edge campaign is a success

If and when Ubuntu Edge gets funded, its users will be able to play with Ubuntu for Android, but not sooner.

Ubuntu for Android sounds like the ideal compromise between a PC and a mobile device. It practically embodies the idea of convergence put forward by Canonical in its Ubuntu Edge campaign.

Three Canonical developers, Chris Wayne, Matt Fischer, and Alex Chiang, answered questions from the community during an AMA (ask me anything) session on Reddit and revealed information about the upcoming (hopefully) Ubuntu for Android.

Many Reddit users have asked them how they can get the Ubuntu for Android software before its release, probably sometime in May 2014, but it seems that Canonical has no plans to make it available before then.

The developers have yet to agree on how Ubuntu for Android will be released on the market, mostly because it needs a custom Android ROM.

Ubuntu for Android is a piece of software that allows you to use your Android phone as if it were a PC by plugging it into a monitor. Users will get the complete Ubuntu desktop on the monitor.
