The Ubuntu operating system has been spotted in an Lockheed Martin video about a humanoid robot they're building, called Atlas.

Not surprisingly, Ubuntu is used in a lot of domains, robotics and science being some of them. This time, Canonical's system has been seen in the video made by Lockheed Martin for their Atlas humanoid robot, built for the DARPA Robotics Challenge.

“Robots are coming of age. As part of the DARPA Robotics Challenge, Lockheed Martin developing autonomous systems that work together with human operators. This collaborative approach applies across many platforms and domain,” the video’s description reads.

The Atlas builders have been using Ubuntu to design and to control the humanoid robot, and it seems to be running on all of their computers.

Don't forget, if you've spotted Ubuntu in the wild, leave us a comment.
