The final version of Ubuntu Touch is getting closer

The Ubuntu Touch platform is still under development and it will take a while until is ready for distribution on phones. The same doesn't apply to the native applications, which are made separately, and now it looks like a new Music app is being developed.

Ubuntu Touch has many of the necessary native apps and others are just being made now. The Music player was one of the first native apps on the platform, but the initial design was not great. The devs have made an effort to improve that app and they are now working on a redesign that looks stunning.

The old version of the Music app had a bland and uninteresting background, but it was replaced with a more simple and elegant dark one, which really makes a difference. The images posted on Google+ by Ubuntu developer Rick Spencer show the progress done with the app. It might not be the final version, but it's a real step up for Music.

The first Ubuntu phones are expected to arrive this December from Meizu, but until then you can try the latest RTM version if you have a Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 device. More details about how to install Ubuntu Touch can be found in the official wiki.
