14 DAY TRIAL // The Ubuntu Touch platform has been receiving incremental improvements and now it looks better than ever. One of the latest additions is a fresh swipe-to-dismiss system for the notifications.
Unlike other mobile operating systems, including Android and iOS, the notification system built for Ubuntu Touch acts more like the one on the desktop, although its much more advanced.
Ubuntu and Unity users are already quite familiar with what Notify OSD looks like and the one used on the mobile platform is somewhat familiar, although it's much more complex and interactive. Users can see more of the notification by clicking on it and now there is even a swipe to dismiss option that actually looks very good.
"This is a test for the new swipe-to-dismiss (read: ignore) feature for snap-decision notifications on UbuntuTouch. This is work in progress and not final... it is also no using the latest visual-tweaks for snap-decision demonstrated in the last preview clip #22," said Ubuntu developers Mirco Müller.
These changes have yet to land in the stable Ubuntu Touch release, but it's very likely that we'll get to play with the new notification system pretty soon.
You can install Ubuntu Touch on Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices, although there are reports that it's also working on Nexus 5 as well.
