The system will be receiving some new artwork soon

Ubuntu MATE 14.10 was just released a couple of weeks ago and the community has received it with open arms, but the system could benefit from a nicer theme. Now, it looks like it's about to receive one.

The themes used for Ubuntu MATE 14.10 are not bad and they fall into a category of artwork that you would expect to find. This is why Martin Wimpress, the leader for the project, asked Sam Hewitt, who is a well-known designer, to make a theme that would stand apart. Not only did he manage to do that but he also actually created something that will definitely please users.

"Yuyo has light and dark variations and a flat style with crisp clean lines. There are many application specific customisations bundled with Yuyo including Chrom{e|ium}, Firefox, GIMP and LibreOffice. Compatible with GTK 2.x and GTK 3.10 through to GTK 3.14 it will be default theme in Ubuntu MATE 15.04 and back ported to Ubuntu MATE 14.04 and 14.10," said Martin Wimpress in his Google+ post.

The theme is not yet ready, but the proof of concept really shows just how good this theme really is. It's very different from what's available right now and it will get a lot of fans once it becomes available.

In the meantime, you can download Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS right now from Softpedia.
