Ubuntu developers are now discussing whether the “Delete recent history" from the Privacy settings should also delete the thumbnails.

Ubuntu integrates a great tool in Privacy that allows users to delete various traces from the operating system, like recent history. An argument has been made that deleting recent history should also include the thumbnails.

“In the Privacy settings, you can choose not to store things you do in Zeitgeist or you can delete entries based on time, such as delete all entries from the last hour. However, this does not delete associated thumbnails.”

“Would it make sense that if you've chosen not to log a specific directory, then thumbnails also aren't saved to ~/.cache/thumbnails/ and if you delete past history, then the thumbnails for those files are also deleted from the cache?” said Ubuntu developer Jo-Erlend Schinstad.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is expected to arrive on April 17, 2014, but until then, the developers might get to integrate some interesting new features.
