Now, we all know that you can use Ubuntu on a tablet device, so this may not come as news to you, but seeing the next-generation Ubuntu 15.10 Desktop Next on a Lenovo ThinkPad 8 Bay Trail tablet might interest you.

A skillful Ubuntu user by the name of Sturmflut, had managed to install the Desktop Next edition of the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system with the Unity 8 desktop environment on a Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet.

"I gave Ubuntu on BayTrail a try again and finally did it: the following screenshots are from a Lenovo ThinkPad 8 BayTrail tablet, running kernel 4.0, Ubuntu 15.10 'Wily Werewolf' and Unity8," was stated in Sturmflut's blog.

At the moment, there are no details on how Sturmflut managed to install Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) Desktop Next on this gorgeous Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet, which is known on the Internet as a Windows 8 Business tablet powered by an Intel Bay Trail processor.

In the gallery below, you can see lots of screenshots of the Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet running the Ubuntu 15.10 Desktop Next operating system, but we recommend watching Sturmflut's blog in the next couple of days for more details on how to install Canonical's latest operating system on a Bay Trail tablet.

At the end of the blog post, you will see that Sturmflut managed to connect the Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet running Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) to a 100” projector screen via HDMI, but while the LightDM login screen starts and the display is mirrored to the external screen, it appears that most controls are out of place and their sizes are wrong.
