Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) is getting closer and closer to a final release, which will be unveiled by Canonical next month, on April 23, 2015. The Final Beta will arrive tomorrow, March 26, for all editions, including Ubuntu itself, which hasn’t had an Alpha or Beta release until now.

Tomorrow’s “Final Beta” release is actually the second Beta release for all the Ubuntu flavors except Ubuntu. Today, Adam Conrad has announced that feature freeze is now in effect for the Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) Final Beta operating system, which means that developers won’t be able to upload their packages to the distribution until the final release, except if they bring extremely important changes.

“As with the previous release, we have a bot in place that will accept uploads that are unseeded and don't affect images,” says Adam Conrad on behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team. “Don't take this as an open invitation to break Feature Freeze on those components, this is just to reduce the burden on the release team, so we only review the uploads that need very serious consideration.”
