The team is finally ready to drop the orange theme

The Ubuntu developers have chosen the new default wallpaper for the 15.04 version and there's no sign of that orange we've all gotten used to.

Ubuntu systems have had an orange-theme wallpaper for many years and it was one of the ways to identify an Ubuntu system from a mile away. You didn't need to see much of the OS, but once you spotted that orange color, you definitely knew what distro it was.

Now it looks like Canonical is finally making some changes to this trend, and this time they have chosen a purple wallpaper. It still follows the same design directions as the previous ones, meaning it respects the Origami theme (Suru) and it looks like there are going to be two of them. The second wallpaper is made for people who just want something simple and with a white / grey color.

The images were posted in a Lauchpad entry by Will Cooke and they are awaiting approval. The team also decided a couple of days ago on the rest of the wallpapers that will be implemented in the final version.

Ubuntu 15.04 has entered feature freeze and it's heading fast towards the finish line. Vivid Vervet will be released at the end of April, in less than two months.
