The Ubuntu 14.04 LTS development is going as planned and Canonical has announced that the distribution is now based on 3.12.4.

Following on its promise to try to integrate the latest available Linux kernel into the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), Canonical is now updating it constantly with the most recent builds.

“The master branch for trusty has been rebased to the latest v3.12.4 upstream stable kernel. We also continue to track the latest v3.13 kernel on our unstable branch and most recently rebased to v3.13-rc3. We anticipate uploading a v3.13 based Trusty kernel to the archive after the new year,” said Canonical's Joseph Salisbury.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is expected to arrive on April 17, 2014. Canonical has already said that it is shooting for 3.13 stable kernel and that it might even go for 3.14, if there's enough time to test it properly.
