Canonical announced at the Ubuntu Developer Summit for Ubuntu 12.10, that they plan to bring a near-complete GNOME 3.6 environment, with Unity on top of it, of course.

GNOME Contacts will be installed by default, Totem will be updated to the latest version, and Clutter will be on the ISO image. Of course, GNOME Shell will not be present, because of Unity.

The upcoming GNOME 3.6 desktop environment, due for release on September 26th, will have SkyDrive support implemented in the gnome-documents package, focus-caret tracking support for GNOME Shell, Microsoft Exchange support in the GNOME Online Accounts app, IBus and XKB support.

Ubuntu Developer Summit for Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), the upcoming version of the popular Ubuntu operating system, is taking place these days in Oakland, USA, between 7 and 11 May.
