Tropico 5, a city-building simulation developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media Digital, is now available on Steam for Linux with a 50% discount.

There are not too many city-building games on the Linux platform, and Tropico 5 is definitely one of the best. It has a beautiful graphics engine, a funny storyline, many technologies to research, and great replayability. It's been recently launched on Steam for Linux and it now gets a hefty discount.

"Return to the remote island nation of Tropico in the next installment of the critically acclaimed and hugely popular 'dictator sim' series. Expand your Dynasty's reign from the early colonial period to beyond the 21st Century, facing an all-new set of challenges, including advanced trading mechanics, technology and scientific research, exploration and for the first time in Tropico history - cooperative and competitive MULTIPLAYER for up to 4 players," reads the entry on Steam.

The game also features four DLC packages, but only three of them are discounted with the same percentage as the base. For some unknown reason, Tropico 5 - Joint Venture is still at full price.

The fact that it looks so good is reflected in the system requirements. Users will need a 2.5 GHz Quad Core CPU, 8 GB of RAM, GeForce 500 or higher, AMD Radeon HD 5000 or higher, and 4 GB of available space.

The promotion for Tropico 5 is set to expire on November 10.
