Trisquel GNU/Linux, a 100% free operating system which comes with a complete selection of programs that can be easily extended using a graphical installer, is now at version 5.5.
Codenamed Brigantia, Trisquel 5.5 STS has arrived, albeit late. According to the developers, this is the biggest effort they had to make in eight years, since the start of the distribution.
Trisquel 5.5 STS is their first distribution based on GNOME 3/GTK 3 and also Linux-libre 3.0.0 kernel. The biggest problem was the implementation of the GNOME 3 desktop environment, especially becase of GNOME Shell, which requires 3D acceleration.
The distribution also comes with LibreOffice 3.4.4, improved integration of the Orca screen reader, 3D acceleration for NVIDIA graphic cards using the free Nouveau driver, and much more.
A complete changelog can be found in the official announcement.
