You can simply install the theme and the icons with the help of a PPA

Linux is not the only platform that is trying to adopt the flat theme trend and Trevilla is probably one of the best around for this specific purpose.

Flat themes are now a hot item, on Linux, iOS, or Windows operating systems alike. Trevilla is probably one of the best versions available for the Linux platform. The developers have now improved the theme to work on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, even if the final version of the distributions hasn't been released.

Trevilla is a collection of flat themes that follow a certain art direction. The included themes are called White, Gray, Black and Chromium.

With the help of noobslab.com, a PPA is available for everyone to use. All you need to do is to open a terminal and enter the following commands (you will need to be root in order to make them work):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/icons sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install trevilla-themes sudo apt-get install trevilla-icons

To activate the themes, you will need to also install a tool, like GNOME Tweak Tool or Ubuntu Tweak. For now, it seems that GNOME Tweak Tool is no longer working properly in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, so it would be a good idea to use Ubuntu Tweak.
