OpenTTD, an open source simulation game based on the popular Microprose title Transport Tycoon originally written by Chris Sawyer, has been updated once more and is now ready for download and testing.

Even if this latest release is still considered a Beta, the developers are confident that it's actually glitch free and that users should be able to try it without any major issues. They are waiting to see if this Beta performs well and maybe we'll get a stable release soon.

"The mountains should now be glitch-free, so they are safe to conquer by train, road vehicle, aircraft, and even by ship! In addition, improvements were made to zoomed guis, for more fun at the high resolution screens. There are other features and fixes too," devs say on the official website.

The original Transport Tycoon was made available in 1995 and the community has kept it alive all these years. OpenTTD is an attempt to improve upon the original title, while keeping the UI and the graphics in place, for the most part.

Check out the changelog for a complete list of updates and fixes. You can download OpenTTD 1.5.0 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia and give it a try. It's not clear when we'll see the next update, but from what the devs are saying this version should be OK to play.
