The Tor Project has announced the general availability of the Tor Browser 4.5 open-source anonymous web browser for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Tor Browser 4.5 includes TOR 0.2.6.7 with extra patches, updates the NoScript add-on to version 2.6.9.22, updates the HTTPS-Everywhere extension to version 5.0.3, and updates meek to version 0.17.

In addition, the new Tor Browser 4.5 includes obfs4proxy 0.0.5 to allow users to use obfs4proxy for obfs4, obfs3, obfs2, and ScrambleSuit bridges, and updates the Pluggable Transport Dependency.

The Tor Launcher has been updated to version 0.2.7.4 and includes numerous bug fixes over the 0.2.7.0.2 release used in Tor Browser 4.0.8. Torbutton was also updated to version 1.9.2.2.

"The 4.5 series provides significant usability, security, and privacy enhancements over the 4.0 series. Because these changes are significant, we will be delaying the automatic update of 4.0 users to the 4.5 series for one week," was stated in the announcement.

Of course, numerous issues have been resolved in this release. Download Tor Browser 4.5 for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X operating systems right now via Softpedia or directly from the application's website.

Those of you who have Tor Browser 4.0.x installed can easily update to the new Tor Browser 4.5 by using the built-in update utility (you should see a notification about the new version in the upper left side of the window).
