On June 16, the Tor Project, through Mike Perry, announced the immediate availability for download of the second maintenance release of the Tor Browser 4.5 web browser for users who want to navigate the Internet anonymously.

According to the release notes, TOR Browser 4.5.2 is here to fix a Logjam attack, and updates the Tor (The Onion Router) anonymity network software to version 0.2.6.9, the OpenSSL library to version 1.0.1n, the HTTPS-Everywhere and NoScript add-ons to version 5.0.5 and 2.6.9.26 respectively, and brings Torbutton to version 1.9.2.6.

"Tor Browser 4.5.2 provides a fix for the Logjam attack (https://weakdh.org/) and updates a number of Tor Browser components," says Mike Perry. "Moreover, it fixes a possible crash on Linux and avoids breaking the Add-ons page if Torbutton is disabled."

For GNU/Linux users, Tor Browser 4.5.2 addresses a crash in the GStreamer multimedia backend, and updates the comment in the start-tor-browser executable. Also, the second Alpha release of the upcoming Tor Browser 5.0 software has been made available for download on the same day with a newer version of Tor.

Download Tor Browser 4.5.2 for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia, where you will also find download links for Tor Browser 5.0 Alpha 2, available as binaries for both 32- and 64-bit architectures.
