One week after Firefox 11 officially landed in Ubuntu 11.10 last week, a few hours ago (March 21st) Canonical announced that the Mozilla Thunderbird 11.0 email client is now available on the official software repositories of the Oneiric Ocelot operating system.

Thunderbird 11.0 was officially released on March 13th and it brings a new user interface with Tabs above the main menu bar in order to make it more contextual and facilitate the navigation.

This upgrade of the popular email client and news reader also contains various security fixes, among which we can mention that Thunderbird notifications are now working with Growl 1.3 or later and importing Microsoft Outlook profiles no longer crashes.

All Ubuntu 11.10 users can update their Thunderbird email client to version 11.0 right now, by using the Update Manager software.

Download Thunderbird 11.0 for Linux binaries and sources right now from Softpedia. Also, don't forget to visit our always up-to-date Thunderbird Extensions section for the latest add-ons!
