The developers from CD Projekt Red don't really consider the Linux platform a priority

CD Projekt Red, the developers of the upcoming “The Witcher 3” game, are now saying that a Linux version is not even in the works.

Everyone got the impression that The Witcher 3 would be getting a Linux release after the company let it slip on Steam, with a banner that was clearly marking SteamOS as a supported platform. The developers even released The Witcher 2 in the meantime, but no one was disputing the fact that the third game in the franchise would be getting a release.

Now, it looks like it's not even in the works. According to a community interview with Michał Stec from CD Projekt Red, at Gamescom 2014, Linux and Mac haven't been considered just yet.

“It’s too early to say, we’re focusing on releasing it on PC, Xbox One and PS 4, same quality, same experience to all the players. We’ll see after that, Linux, Mac I guess it might be planned but I do not know about it yet,” says Michał Stec.

A lot of Linux users have high expectations from CD Projekt Red and The Witcher 3 because they might push the limit of what it can be done on the Linux platform.

The game is expected to arrive in 2015, so there is still hope that they might reconsider in time for the release. Jump to the 6:26-mark in the video below for the information.
