An Ubuntu developer has shared some of the progress that has been made on Ubuntu touch

One of the most interesting features of the new Unity8 and of Ubuntu Touch is Scopes, and the latest implementation of this feature shows the great progress that Canonical has been making on this end.

Scopes in Ubuntu Touch is one of the things the user sees when he first turns on the phone, so it's no wonder that Canonical has been putting a lot of effort into this very visible feature, and all the work is starting to show.

The build that features these beautiful upgrades for Unity8 and the Scopes hasn't arrived yet in the stable image for Ubuntu touch, but it should be here shortly, unless you want to get the development branch of the system.

You can take a good look at these images because Canonical intends to bring Unity8 on the desktop and it will probably look a lot like this, although some adaptations for the big screen will be made. It's very different from what's currently used in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, for example, which is Unity7.

It's not sure when Unity8 will be implemented as default on the desktop version, but Canonical will surely try to have a working build (not a testing one like it has now) in Ubuntu 14.010.

Enjoy!
