In order to get the update, users must enroll in the Beta program

Valve has launched a new Beta version for its Steam for Linux client, featuring quite a few fixes, most of them for the Big Picture mode.

When a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable, and the work for the next beta starts almost immediately. Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux Beta update: • A status drop-down in Big Picture friends interface has been fixed and it's no longer appearing underneath the message box; • The public/private/friends drop-down has been fixed in Big Picture and it's no longer appearing underneath the message box; • A a regression that was causing a large memory leak while in some parts of the Big Picture UI has been fixed.

In order to get the latest update, users just have to start the application and make sure they’re enrolled in the Beta program.
