The Steam for Linux Client Receives a Huge Update

Valve has launched yet another Stable version for its Steam for Linux client, this time with a lot of fixes and improvements.

After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes that version to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux update:

• The rate-limiting of Steam game downloads is now available, via Settings -> Downloads; • Client update-loops caused by inconsistent server and proxy-cache states have been fixed; • The handling of http_proxy environment variable http:// prefix has been in some instances; • The Overlay enable hotkey now handles more shifted keys correctly; • The most-recently-played tray menu will not have an extra separator if no games have been played.
