Canonical has posted a new video today on its YouTube channel, showcasing its brand-new Ubuntu Music App that will work across desktop and mobile platforms, including the Ubuntu for phones.

In the video, lead designer Jouni Helminen takes an 8-minute long interview with the main developers of the application, Victor Thompson and Andrew Hayzen, who talk about their open source adventure. It appears that the team has been working on the Ubuntu Music App for about two years, since spring 2013.

The devs are asked various questions like what made them write apps for the Ubuntu Linux operating system or how they find time to contribute to the Open Source community, as well as to share their experience with the QML and Qt stack for other developers who want to start creating apps for the Ubuntu platform.

The main idea of this behind-the-scenes video is to encourage developers around the world to contribute to the Ubuntu operating system by writing new apps, which will work on both desktop and mobile (tablet/phone) starting with Ubuntu 16.04, most probably.

We have to admit that the new Ubuntu Music app looks really nice. Rhythmbox will probably be replaced by Ubuntu Music in the upcoming versions of the Ubuntu Linux operating system. Enjoy the video!
