The Riddling game is proving to be quite a success with Ubuntu users

Ubuntu for phones may not be one of the most widely spread operating systems out there, but one developer showed how things will soon work, by releasing a game on Ubuntu and then porting it to iOS and Android.

There are probably very few applications, if any, developed natively for Ubuntu and then ported to other platforms, like Android and iOS. The Riddling game might be the first example of its kind.

The title is developed by just two guys from kryogenix.org and proves to be a very challenging one. It has been described by its developers as “a puzzle game involving intelligence, psychology, lateral thinking, research, and guesswork,” but it turns out that it's a little more than that.

According to one of the developers, Stuart Langridge, the Ubuntu version is the native one, and the Android and iOS builds have been ported with Phonegap.

Interestingly enough, even Mark Shuttleworth found the game to be quite entertaining, and commented about it, saying, “This makes for amazing loo breaks.” One participant in the Google+ discussion even suggested to make Mark's remark a tagline in the app store.

Getting the game on Ubuntu is simple, as the application is already in the Software Center. Just search for Riddling in the App scope and hit install.

Enjoy!
