Matthias Klumpp announced today, April 18, the immediate availability for download and testing of the first Alpha version of the upcoming Tanglu 3 Linux operating system.

Tanglu 3 Alpha is distributed in three editions, with the GNOME and KDE desktop environments, as well as a Core flavor that can be used to build a custom Tanglu installation.

Highlights include Linux kernel 3.19, which will be updated to version 4.0 soon, systemd 219, upstream updates from the Debian 8.0 Jessie software repositories, and a new live installer called Calamares.

"We are pleased to announce the release of the first development release of Tanglu 3, which includes Tanglu-KDE, Tanglu-GNOME and Tanglu Core," says Matthias Klumpp.

The GNOME edition of Tanglu 3 Alpha ships with an incomplete GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, but the development team promises to ship the full version in upcoming releases.

On the other hand, Tanglu 3 Alpha KDE edition is now built around the next-generation KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment and KDE Frameworks 5.

Download Tanglu 3 Alpha GNOME and Tanglu 3 Alpha KDE right now via Softpedia or directly from the operating system's website. Please keep in mind that this is a pre-release version that might contain unknown issues.
