Suricata, a high-performance Network IDS, IPS and Network Security Monitoring engine that is open source and owned by a community-run non-profit foundation – the Open Information Security Foundation (OISF), is now at version 1.4.2.

According to the developer, Suricata 1.4.2 is just a bugfix release, with very few new features and changes.

Highlights of Suricata 1.4.2:

• "nocase" is no longer forcibly used on http_host; • If uppercase content is used for http_host, the rule is invalidated; • The user is now warned if bpf is utilized in af-packet IPS mode; • Various accuracy issues with relative pcre matching have been fixed; • The accuracy of file_data keyword has been improved; • Negative depth has been invalidated.
