Stronghold 3, a real-time strategy game developed by the well-known FireFly Studios, has been ported on the Linux platform and is now available for purchase with an 85% discount.

Stronghold 3 tries to recapture the appeal of the first game in the series that was released ten years ago. If we take a look at the comments on Steam, it doesn't look like the developers have done a great job. In fact, the game took a lot of flak for the bugs it had on the Windows platform, so it remains to be seen if the Linux version will be affected in the same way.

"Set 10 years after the original, the Wolf it seems, has cheated death and during his painful recovery he’s become even more bitter and twisted. Now he seeks revenge. Raiding villages and towns during the dead of night, the Wolf has created a tide of panic and you and your allies are the only force that stand against him," is noted in the synopsis for Stronghold 3 on Steam.

The system requirements for Stronghold 3 are not very restrictive and they should not pose any problems for most of the gamers: Ubuntu 14.10 and Mint 17 are supported and users will need an Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual-Core) Quad Core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB of HDD space, and an OpenGL 2.1 capable card.

The promotion for the game ends on October 13.
