Valve publishes every month a software and hardware survey that show details about the Steam for Linux users, and the April results are worrying.

Just like the previous month, the number of Steam for Linux users has decreased again, reaching a “whooping” 1.56%.

The best placed distribution in the Steam Hardware Survey is Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit, followed by Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS 64 bit, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, and Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit.

The last places in this very long list are occupied by "Chakra" 64 bit, "Sabayon Linux amd64 13.04" 64 bit, LMDE Cinnamon Edition 64 bit, "Mageia 3", and "Mageia 3" 64 bit.

The reason for the drop is not known, but the most likely reason is the lack of big releases that have failed to appear, up until now at least.

The complete survey can be found on Valve's official website.
