Valve provides some interesting statistics about its users

Valve has released a new Steam Hardware Survey, and the news aren't great for Linux users, if we take the OS numbers in consideration.

Every month, Valve releases a comprehensive statistic about its user base. This statistic is usually comprised of hardware details, but it also features an OS section which shows what the Steam gamers are using to connect to the client.

For the last few months, the Steam for Linux base has been in a continuous decline, and the month of June has registered the lowest number so far, 1.07 percent.

This percentage doesn’t include the “Other” category, which is likely comprised of unknown Linux OSes that are not recognized by Steam.

On the other hand, these number don’t appear to show a correct trend. This is easily observable by watching the Microsoft Vista entry, which has registered an increase of 0.74%.

The Linux community blames these low numbers on the lack of major titles for their platform, but all these statistics are about to change after the Steam Summer Sale.
