The Steam for Linux client has been upgraded

Valve has released a new Steam Beta client and the developers have made a number of small improvements, although there is nothing out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, if you need to upgrade, then now would be a good time.

The Steam developers have been rather quiet these past few weeks and they haven't made too many releases. In fact, the entire month of December has been very quiet and most of the changes have focused on maintenance. The latest Steam update seems to be more than that, but a few of the changes are just for the Windows platform.

For example, users should have a much better experience when viewing full screen video in the web control zone, the image quality of scaled video has been improved, the Big Picture feature has been refined, recorded video during a Broadcasting session now works properly, and the application no longer crashes during Broadcasting.

You can download the Steam for Linux client from Softpedia. In order to get the Beta version, you will need to subscribe to it from Preferences. Please be careful when installing apps that are still in development. Bugs might still be present and users shouldn't really try it if they don't have any issues with the stable version.
