We reported a couple of weeks ago that the Spec Ops: The Line game was finally being ported to the Linux platform by Virtual Programming Ltd, a game publisher known for creating cross-platform software on Linux, Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android operating systems.

Today we are happy to report that the Spec Ops: The Line game has been officially released for Linux kernel-based operating systems via Steam for Linux, along with a 48-hour launch sale that lets you buy the game for only $4.99 (€3.99).

Spec Ops: The Line is a third-person shooter video game developed by Yager Development, published by 2K Games, and powered by Unreal Engine 3. It is the ninth installment in the Spec Ops series and had been initially released on June 28, 2012.

Originally announced only for the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming consoles, the game was later ported to the Mac OS X platform and now on Linux too.

While the game has an emphasis on elements of squad-based tactics and cover, it offers great graphics and captivating gaming experience. You can buy Spec Ops: The Line for Linux right now from Steam. Do note that the 80% discount expires in less than 38 hours from the moment of writing this article!
