Salix, a GNU/Linux distribution based on Slackware that is simple, fast, easy to use, and based on the Xfce desktop environment, is now at version 14.0.1.

Salix 14.0.1 implements a large number of updates that have been included in the development versions released so far.

Highlights of Salix OS Xfce 14.0.1:

• The distribution is now based on Xfce 4.10; • The Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.2.45; • LibreOffice has been updated to version 4.x; • The Midori browser has been updated to version 0.5.2;

“Also, the screensaver is disabled by default now, as it seems there were a few cases with some graphics cards acting up with certain 3D screensavers. So, this is probably the safest way to avoid any crashes. Any users that want to enable the screensaver can certainly do it from the respective entry in the Settings menu in Xfce,” reads the official announcement.

A complete list of new features can be found in the changelog.
