Skype for Linux 4.3 is now available in the Ubuntu repositories and users can get the latest version of this software.

In case you don't remember, Skype is now under Microsoft’a control and it might seem weird that they still continue to release a Linux version. Nonetheless, Skype for Linux reached version 4.3 and numerous improvements have been made.

There were a number of technical reasons for which the latest version of Skype wasn’t added to the Ubuntu repositories, but those problems have been resolved and users now have access to it. All they have to do is to search for “Software & Updates” in Unity's Dash, go to the second tab, and check the Canonical partners repository.

After you reload the repositories, you will be able to find the latest Skype for Linux in Ubuntu Software Center.

Skype for Linux 4.3 brings a number of important changes and features. For example, the new cloud-based Group Chat experience has been implemented into the software, the file transfer support is now much better when using multiple devices at once, the accessibility for blind and visually impaired users has been improved, and PulseAudio 3.0 and 4.0 support has been added.

If you don't want to install Skype via the repository, you can always download the software from the official website.
