The final release of KDE SC 4.9 will be unveiled on August 1st

The KDE Project announced a few hours ago, June 13th, the second Beta version of the upcoming KDE Software Compilation 4.9 environment, due for release at the beginning of August 2012.

KDE Software Compilation 4.9 will contain features such as Qt Quick in Plasma Workspaces, improved searching, sorting, display and inline rename on Dolphin, better integration of Activities for files, as well as lots of performance improvements and bugfixes to improve the overall user experience.

With API, dependency and feature freezes in place, the KDE team's focus is now on fixing bugs and further polishing new and old functionality” the official announcement stated.

Download KDE Software Compilation 4.9 Beta 2 sources right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
