Scientific Linux, a recompiled Red Hat Enterprise Linux put together by various labs and universities around the world, has reached version 6.3 Beta 1.
Highlights of Scientific Linux 6.3 Beta 1:
• OpenOffice.org has been replaced with LibreOffice; • Anaconda now alerts users to the Beta status of a release when it is tagged appropriately; • '-r' option to script for removal of the configuration has been added; • Switched to augeas-based configuration; • A number of SPEC file changes to make things cleaner
