Salix, a GNU/Linux distribution based on Slackware that is simple, fast, easy to use, and based on XFCE desktop environment, is now at version 14.0 Beta 1.

The developer of Salix OS 14.0 Beta 1, The Salix OS Team, has provided two separate images for the 32-bit and 64-bit architecture.

Unfortunately, there aren't many details available about the distribution, with one exception. The Java runtime environment was not included in the OS, and it may not be included in the final version. It will be available in the repositories.

The provided iso images are hybrid images, so users can either burn them on CDs, or use dd to transfer them to a USB stick.

Download Salix Xfce 14.0 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
