Gabriele Martina announced on April 8 the immediate availability for download of the SalentOS 14.04.2 Linux distribution based on the upstream Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system from Canonical.

According to the release notes posted by the SalentOS developer on the distribution's website, the new version updates all the core components based on the upstream packages of the Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS operating system.

SalentOS 14.04.2 also introduces several new components, such as the SalentOS Control Center, which replaces the Xfce Control Center app, and a SalentOS main menu script for apps and restyled.

In addition, the SalentOS Tint2 Configuration Manager has been added to allow users to customize the Tint2 panel with ease. A new Welcome screen and new Oblogout Theme Manager have been added as well.

Mozilla Firefox is now the default web browser in SalentOS 14.04.2, a release that introduces several other under-the-hood improvements, fixes bugs discovered in the previous release and updates many other core components and libraries.

The SalentOS Update Center has been added as well. It allows users to manage system upgrade, update, dist-update, apt-autoremove, apt-clean, and other commands more easily.

Last but not least, the SalentOS Official Repository has been introduced, which contains a significant number of packages for you to install. Download SalentOS 14.04.2 right now from Softpedia.
