SMPlayer, a complete media player for Linux that is based on MPlayer as the playback engine and that uses its own codecs, is now at version 0.8.5.

SMPlayer 0.8.5 may not be a major release, but the developers have brought back the subtitle searching functionality.

Highlights of SMPlayer 0.8.5:

• The player can find, once again, subtitles on opensubtitles.org; • The skinnable interface is now installed by default; • The default setting for the autoresize option has been changed and the application will no longer resize automatically; • The cache settings for slow media, such as Internet URLs, have been fixed; • Two new options for Audio -> Stereo mode have been implemented; • A problem with mplayer2 and the -fontconfig option has been fixed.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement.
