Q4OS 0.5.0, a desktop operating system designed to offer classic style user interface and which bears an uncanny resemblance to Windows XP, is available for download.

According to the developers, Q4OS 0.5.0 is very useful for cloud environments due to its low hardware requirements.

The distribution is based on Trinity DE, which is actually a fork of KDE. As we all know, this is the best desktop environment to emulate a Windows-based operating system. Keep in mind that it uses some very ancient packages and Linux kernel 3.2.0.

The Q4OS distribution can also run Windows applications by using Wine compatibility layer. Just enter the following command in a terminal:

sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install wine So, if you ever feel the need or the nostalgia of Windows XP, just install Q4OS. It's recommended that you use VirtualBox.

Download Q4OS 0.5.0 right now from Softpedia.
