Redis, an open source, advanced key-value store, which is often referred to as a data structure server since keys can contain strings, hashes, lists, sets and sorted sets, is now at version 2.6.0.

Before upgrading from version Redis 2.4 to 2.6, you should know there are a couple of small issues. Firstly, users can't use .rdb and AOF files generated with 2.6 into a 2.4 instance.

Secondly, 2.6.0 slaves can be attached to 2.4 masters, but not the contrary, and only for the time needed to perform the version upgrade.

Highlights of Redis 2.6.0:

• A new field in INFO, “slave_read_only”, has been implemented; • AUTH is now allowed when server is in -BUSY state because of a slow script; • MULTI/EXEC flow now makes sense when observed in MONITOR; • SCRIPT KILL now uses different error prefixes for different errors; • Server side Lua scripting has been implemented; • Virtual Memory was removed.
