On January 15, François Dupoux announced a new release of his popular SystemRescueCd Linux-based operating system for rescue and recovery tasks.

SystemRescueCd 4.0.0 comes with important changes and improvements, but the most significant is the promotion of a new Linux kernel. A number of applications have also been updated.

Highlights of SystemRescueCd 4.0.0:

• Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.10.25 (rescue32 + rescue64); • The alternative Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.12.17 (altker32 + altker64); • The X.Org graphical environment and drivers have been updated to version 1.14.3; • Gparted has been updated to version 0.17.0 (support for online resize added); • btrfs utilities have been updated to sys-fs/btrfs-progs-3.12.
