The mini-PC is being used as a movie prop

The film industry has started to notice that there are very small PCs out there, like the Raspberry Pi 2, and producers have started to include them in their movies. Point Break is just one example.

The Linux community is very quick to notice when one of their favorite distros is spotted in a movie or a TV show, but that interest should now extend to devices like the Raspberry Pi 2. This mini PC runs Linux for the most part, and recently it has been seen in some movie productions in various instances.

"When we started the Raspberry Pi Foundation in 2012, we thought we’d just be teaching kids to code. It’s kind of discombobulating to find that we’ve been making movie props too. We’ve found a couple of other recent appearances of the Pi in odd places. Here is a Pi which, we’re told, has been used to do awful, villainous things to a subway train and a rollercoaster in the new CSI: Cyber," wrote Liz Upton, Head of Communications at the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

As it turns out, Raspberry Pi was also spotted in the Big Hero 6, a very successful 3D animated movie that was released just last year. Raspberry Pi is no longer just a cool mini-PC that has more uses than anyone can imagine, it's also a part of the public awareness.

Don't forget to leave us a message if you've seen Linux or any kind of Linux-related gadget in a unique setting.

You can see the Raspberry Pi at the 1.23-minute mark in the video below.
